Silversmithing 101: Earrings in Billings, MT on 4/5/25
April 5, 2025 from 10am to 4pm
Beginner Friendly Silversmithing Class!
This class will be held in Billings and instructed by Montana Artist and Silversmith Meagan Anderson. The location is near Shiloh Rd and Central Ave; the address will be shared via email following sign-up. *No auditors or guests will be allowed in the workspace during class time.*
The cost of this Beginner Level Silversmithing Class includes a silversmithing toolkit rental, all silver needed to complete the earrings, and stones to set. This class price is slightly higher than the Ring classes because the tools we use sustain more damage, and a pair of stones is provided.
You will first make two plain sterling silver stud earrings as you learn some soldering techniques. Then you’ll build bezels to fit your stones, attach them to silver backings you cut out yourself, and set stones in them after you attach the solid sterling silver studs to the backs.
Afterwards you get to take home two sets of sterling silver earrings you’ve made entirely yourself!
READING GLASSES are probably a good thing to bring if you ever use them (even if you only occasionally use them for projects sometimes…bring them!).
Also please bring a sack lunch, snack, or make arrangements for a meal, as we will break from about 1 to 1:30 for lunch.
All materials needed to complete the class are provided, and you can bring stones of your own to set, choose a set of stones from those included in the price, or purchase high-grade stones from SPCS inventory. Photos of stones for purchase will be provided on request.
*Any stone you bring must be a cabochon style or have a flat surface to balance on; no faceted stones for this class please! Your stone must measure no more than 3/4 inch in diameter (or at the widest point), and be no more than 3/8 inch in height at the thickest point.
Sweet Pea Custom Silver also offers Startup Silversmithing Kits and Silver Bundles for sale to help you get started on your own silversmithing journey. Feel free to reach out with questions via email or the contact number here on my website.
Please see SPCS Returns and Refunds Policy prior to purchase; a link can be found at the bottom of this page.
